Willowsford will be participating in Scrape for the Grape again this spring on Sunday, April 12th. This community event, organized by the Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance and their partners, brings volunteers of all ages together to scrape spotted lanternfly egg masses before they hatch, helping protect our rural economy and local farms and vineyards.

We will meet from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Bull Run Overlook Trailhead and Obstacle Course in The Greens. You will get trained on how to identify and remove the egg masses as well as the materials that you will need. We recommend wearing long pants and bringing work gloves.

Why Participate?

  • Create awareness of invasive species while helping our rural economy
  • Family friendly and fun, while getting educated about the SLF!
  • Volunteers receive commemorative t-shirts, scrapers and bandanas
  • 20 wineries participating in a “weekend of gratitude”, offering special promotions for volunteers
  • Mom’s Apple Pie is providing special SLF shaped cookies for the kids
  • A great way for high school students or scouts to get volunteer hours
