We Have The Meats!

Greetings from the Farm,

New¬†this month is local beef from Ayrshire Farm!!¬†We‚Äôre excited to start carrying products from a farm that feels the same about agriculture as Willowsford Farm and is also Certified Humane¬ģ and Organic!¬†Ayrshire Farm is a sustainable and regenerative farm in Upperville, Virginia, dedicated to raising heritage-breed animals the right way: Ethically, without added hormones or antibiotics, and 100% on pasture. They specialize in Scottish Highland and Ancient White Park beef, both rare British breeds that forage on continually rotated open land. Their broiler chickens have unlimited outdoor access, are fed a vegetarian diet, and are never exposed to additional antibiotics or hormones. When it comes to processing, Ayrshire Farm uses its own abattoir, Gentle Harvest, which is also Certified Humane¬ģ and Organic, ensuring that animals are treated with the utmost care and respect throughout every phase. Not only do we love Ayrshire Farm‚Äôs practices, but their meat tastes phenomenal too! We are offering a box with a selection¬†of steaks, roasts, and ground beef available that will pair beautifully with our early spring vegetables. You can order the Beef Box here.

Flower Bouquets

THE BOUQUET THIS WEEK:
Snapdragon, Stock, Ranunculus, Anemone, Bachelor button, Icelandic Poppy, Thornless Raspberry, Sweet Pea

Get MORE out of your bouquet!

  1. Start with a clean vessel. I sanitize mine with a splash of bleach and a good scrub and then rinse it out well.
  2. Fill the vessel with fresh water about ¬†‚Öď of the way full. The more water you put in the more contact with the stems means more opportunity for bacteria to grow, so we recommend filling to ‚Öď and changing water frequently
  3. Snip the ends of your flowers at an angle with a sharp pair of scissors or pruners.
  4. Do not place in direct sunlight.
  5. Change the water in the vase every other day and give the stems a fresh snip. Bacteria clog the stems of the flower and cause them to fade more quickly. Fresh, clean water and a fresh cut on the ends will help the flowers continue to be able to drink and last longer!
  6. Let the bouquet evolve! Some flowers are more ephemeral than others and we encourage our members to pull those blooms out of the bouquet once they fade but to continue to enjoy the other blooms and foliage that last longer.
