The Online Farm Store is Open!

Greetings from the Farm,

It’s finally here! Our first 2023 Summer CSA fulfillments begin this week! The Farm stand has its Summer re-opening today! It’s a beautiful spring day! Can you tell we’re excited? This year, the Farm Team has been working hard to bring you the same delicious CSA experience as last year, but with a lighter staffing situation. We appreciate how supportive our community has been, with a huge shout-out to our volunteers who’ve been a large part of our CSA preparations!

This Weeks Cycle: The Online Farm Store is open for business! We’re getting back into the groove of the CSA, which means the ordering cycle is now in effect. Check back over the weekend, as we add new products! Place your order between Thursday May 18th and Sunday May 21st by 12pm for fulfillment on May 25/26/27.

Late Enrollment: If you signed up for a CSA share earlier this week (Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) your first fulfillment is NEXT week. Our orders processing cutoff is Sunday afternoon, so your first pick ups and deliveries will begin on May 25/26/27. The Farm Stand will be open today from 4pm-7pm and Saturday 9am-1pm if you just can’t wait to taste our delicious produce!

Transitional Scallions?: This week you’ll see transitional scallions on the Online Farm Store, this product is not organic and will be clearly labeled as such. When we offer fruits and other produce that is not organic, we’ll make sure to include it in the item description so you know exactly what you’re getting!

Reminder: We will be having a Farm Stand Opening Celebration on Thursday May 18th, 4pm-7pm at the Farm Stand in the Grange. This event is open to the public and will feature tastings from some of our partners: Harvest Symphony Bakery, Ayreshire Farms and Village Cheeseworks. Our friends, KT Pizza will also be joining us! Check out some new products at the Farm Stand, say hi to friends old and new and celebrate the start of Farm Stand season!

Connect With Us : Join us for one of our upcoming programs or volunteer alongside us. Visit the Conservancy Events, Instagram or Facebook pages for details.

Red radishes, Hakurei turnips, chard, daikon radish, microgreens, spinach, chives, transitional scallions (Lancaster Farms), romaine lettuce (Lancaster Farms) and maybe Evercrsip apples (Beechwood Orchards)

Flower Bouquets

THE BOUQUET THIS WEEK:
Snapdragon, Stock, Ranunculus, Anemone, Bachelor button, Icelandic Poppy, Thornless Raspberry, Sweet Pea

Get MORE out of your bouquet!

  1. Start with a clean vessel. I sanitize mine with a splash of bleach and a good scrub and then rinse it out well.
  2. Fill the vessel with fresh water about  ⅓ of the way full. The more water you put in the more contact with the stems means more opportunity for bacteria to grow, so we recommend filling to ⅓ and changing water frequently
  3. Snip the ends of your flowers at an angle with a sharp pair of scissors or pruners.
  4. Do not place in direct sunlight.
  5. Change the water in the vase every other day and give the stems a fresh snip. Bacteria clog the stems of the flower and cause them to fade more quickly. Fresh, clean water and a fresh cut on the ends will help the flowers continue to be able to drink and last longer!
  6. Let the bouquet evolve! Some flowers are more ephemeral than others and we encourage our members to pull those blooms out of the bouquet once they fade but to continue to enjoy the other blooms and foliage that last longer.

Spring into Salads
Salads are a Spring essential, and there’s no better way to eat in season. Give this Spring Salad with Green Garlic Dressing a try!
