Thank you for being a part of our 2022 Winter CSA program! We’ve received a lot of questions about the differences between the Summer and Winter, the bi-weekly schedule, credits and more. We’d like to take this moment to answer some of your FAQ before we jump right in to Winter distributions.
What is Farmer’s Choice?
The Farmer’s Choice share is curated by the Farm team to include a variety of fresh, premium produce and fruits for you to enjoy. This share is a “set it and forget it”, you won’t need to log on and add items to your cart (unless you want to) but you also will not be able to adjust the contents. The most successful Farmer’s Choice subscribers incorporate a soup or stir-fry into their meal plan, using any remaining vegetables to whip up a hearty and healthy meal.
Is everything from the Online Farm Store and in the Farmer’s Choice certified organic?
While all produce grown on the Farm is organic, not all products available for sale and/or in the Farmer’s Choice share are organic. We partner with Beechwood Orchard (Integrated Pest Management) and other farms to supplement what we offer on the Online Farm Store. In addition, some of our add-on products such as baked goods, cheeses and non perishables are not certified organic. When will the Online Farm Store be open for ordering?
The Online Farm Store will follow a similar cycle to the 2022 Summer season. You will receive the Farm Newsletter via email announcing that the Online Farm Store is open for that cycle. The weekend prior to each distribution date, the Online Farm store will close to give the Farm team time to harvest, wash, pack and prepare orders for distribution.
When can I pick up/have my share delivered?
Fulfillment has shifted to Wed/Thurs instead of Thurs/Fri/Sat. When signing up for the 2022 Winter, you can select pick up on Wednesday at the Boathouse or Farm Stand from 4pm-6pm. The Home Delivery South will be on Wednesday, and Home Delivery North on Thursday.

January: 4/5, 18/19

What happens if I can’t pick up my share?
If you are unable to pick up your share on Wednesday, please email email@example.com
to schedule an alternative pick up date/time. We hold unclaimed shares for a few days, and anything not claimed is donated to Loudoun Hunger Relief.
I will be out of town and need to adjust one of my dates, can I do that on Barn2Door?
To help streamline the user experience and reduce confusion, you will need to email farm@willowsfordfarm
to skip or adjust your fulfillment dates. We prefer as much advance notice as possible, but we understand when life happens. Most last minute adjustment requests can be accommodated up to 24 hours in advance.
Can I use my Summer Credits for the Winter season? Do they expire?
You can use any leftover Custom Credits from the 2022 Summer season during the Winter season. Credits do not expire, think of them as a gift card that you can only use on the Willowsford Farm Online Farm Store
. Credits can be used to purchase anything, which includes produce, fruit, meat bundles, and partner products like breads, cheese, pie etc. You can also use Credits to purchase subscriptions, such as the 2023 Egg, Farmer’s Choice subscription or even a 2023 Flower subscription.
Why is the Winter share more expensive?
As a bi-weekly subscription, the Winter box will be larger than the Summer box. Winter greens also fetch a premium price in a retail setting, especially when grown organically. We will also be including root vegetables, winter squashes, fruits from our partner farm and other produce.
Will the Farm Stand in the Grange be open during the Winter?
Due to staffing needs and weather concerns, the Farm Stand in the Grange (off of Founders Drive) will not be open during the Winter season. The Online Farm Store will be open in conjunction with the Winter CSA cycle, and members will receive an email when the Online Farm Store opens for each cycle. We will continue to offer add-ons during the Winter season.
