Wild and Wonderful Willowsford!

Greetings from the Farm,It’s been a beautiful week here at Willowsford Farm, and we’ve been slowly transitioning to prepare for the changing of the seasons. The last of the Tomato plants have been removed from the tunnels and the structures already have new plants sprouting. Pac Choi replaced the Basil beds and Lettuces are building up their roots in the Greenhouse…
Willowsford Wildlife : The best sign of a healthy ecosystem is a variety of creatures great and small on the Farm. From bugs to birds, each plays a part in keeping the environment balanced and productive. The Photos from the Farm highlights some of the critters we’ve met so far this year, including one of the elusive groundhogs, who just couldn’t resist a juicy apple!
So Little Thyme : A limited Winter Farmer’s Choice and Egg Shares are still available until the end of October! A great way to maximize those Fall and Winter flavors is through soups and slow roasts. We’ve added a large new selection of meats and bundles to the Online Farm Stand this week. There’s no easier weekend meal prep than throwing everything into one big pot on the stove!
Squash Goals : Now that the weather is truly cooling down, our Summer seasonal produce is departing. Any remaining peppers, tomatoes, eggplants and the like will only be available in limited quantities and once they are gone, it’s goodbye until next year. Say hello to squashes, radishes, turnips and delicious sweet potatoes!

Photos : A healthy Willowsford Farm Ecosystem! From the smallest to the largest, we have the pleasure of meeting all sorts of friends throughout the seasons. A Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillar crawling around. An American Toad exploring the produce beds. As a bonus, we were able to snag one of the culprits who’s been enjoying the fruits of our labor, groundhogs are a very destructive pest for farms and gardens.
