This species of mint does not spread as aggressively as other species in the family. Downy wood mint can grow in majority of soil types, can tolerate shade and full sun, and attracts many birds, bees, and butterflies. This plant is also deer resistant, and is a good ground cover option as it only reaches one foot in height.
