Greetings from the Farm,The Farm Team got down and dirty this week weeding carrots! Carrots are mostly weeded by hand, as their delicate sprouts cannot handle the pressure and intensity of equipment. This means lots of hours¬†spent in carrot beds, giving us plenty of time to catch up on¬†podcasts –¬†Gastropod is a team favorite.

Farm Stand at the Boathouse¬†:¬†Everyone’s favorite event south of Route 50 is back! Farm Stand at the Boathouse returns TODAY¬†Thursday October 13th from 4pm-6pm,¬†so¬†stop by and browse our selection. Come chat with Farmer Andy and¬†have a bite from one of our food truck partners: KT Pizza!
 
Jack-o-Lanterns : Come enjoy a classic fall-time activity with us on Saturday October 22nd from 9:30am-12pm! Sign up here to join us for Pumpkin Carving at the Farm Stand, tickets are $20 per pumpkin and we provide the tools, pumpkins and space to make a huge mess. Just bring your creativity and let the gourd times roll! Registration closes October 20th, so sign up today.

There’s Still Thyme¬†: If you haven’t signed up for the 2022 Winter Farmer’s Choice and/or Egg subscriptions, registration will be open until October 28th. Continue your fresh veggies through November, December and January here.

Sweet Potatoes, green-top carrot bunch, micro-radish greens, Swiss Arlet, head lettuce, yellow onion, acorn squash, assorted peppers, beauty heart (watermelon) radishes, mint, chives or garlic chives.

Get a Pizza the Pie : KT Pizza will be back for Farm Stand at the Boathouse this week. Stop by to enjoy delicious pizza, some of the best in the DMV! Please note, this is weather dependent due to possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

Photos : Thank you to our wonderful Egg Washing Volunteers who powered through so many eggs that it filled a whole fridge! Egg Washing is a fun volunteering activity for all ages and a great way to spend some time on the Farm. A little friend found in the carrot beds during weeding activities. Even the youngest members of Willowsford enjoy the Farm Stand!
