Tree Planting for Earth Week
April 16 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
| FreeJoin the Conservancy in kicking off Earth Week by planting over 500 trees! We are searching for volunteers to help us plant native trees in a meadow behind Lotus Pond Place in The Greens. The goal of this planting is to create a wildlife corridor for animals moving through Conservancy open space, improve air quality, and establish a buffer between Lotus Pond Place and the proposed county park.
The Conservancy is a proud partner of the Arbor Day Foundation for this effort. ADF is a nonprofit that funds tree planting projects nationwide where local companies fund efforts to have an environmental impact in their local area. This community tree planting is made possible by a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and Amazon.
Come and plant trees with us and make a difference. We will provide instruction, all the necessary materials, as well as snacks and lunch. We are looking for volunteers of all ages, from all Villages to join Amazon volunteers and Conservancy staff. This is a day when LCPS is closed for Spring Break (and kids are encouraged to attend with their parents/guardians), so if you are in town or work from home, we would love to have you join us!
Why Participate?
- Plant saplings to make a difference in your community
- Learn about the park’s impact on Willowsford
- Improve environmental outcomes since trees produce oxygen, create ecosystems for wildlife, and mitigate the impacts of climate change
- Meet your neighbors and get to know Conservancy staff
- Great way for young students to engage in volunteerism or for high school students to earn volunteer hours
- Enjoy snacks and lunch while you participate
Please RSVP below so we have a head count for lunch (no need to register kids age 4 or below)
