Hiking Spree: Woodpecker Walk
June 21 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am
| FreeJoin Sarah, our Programs & Engagement Coordinator, for a walk along Wetlands Way in The Greens to look for some of our local woodpeckers! With the many snags, this section of woodlands is particularly good habitat for woodpeckers. Both common species of woodpeckers, like downy and red-bellied, as well as more elusive woodpeckers, like red headed, have been frequently spotted here.
We’ll meet in the parking area for the obstacle course, located at 25359 Grassland Grove Drive in Aldie, VA. For this hike, we’ll cross the road and follow Wetland’s Way to Spring Peeper Pond before looping back around, in total we’ll hike just around 1.5-2 miles. Be sure to wear proper footwear for hiking, this trail can occasionally get muddy if it’s been rainy, and bring binoculars if you have them. We’ll have a few extra pairs for sharing! This hike is family friendly and kids are welcome to attend.
This guided hike is part of our 2024 Hiking Spree! After your hike, don’t forget to log your hikes for a chance to win prizes!
