DESCRIPTION:Join Willowsford Conservancy for an educational program about snakes on this day that LCPS has off of school! Snakes are one the most feared animals on the planet. Unfortunately\, due to this fear and the lack of knowledge that humans have about these amazing creatures\, thousands are killed each year. This program will be lead by Bill Crisp with K2C Snake Consultants\, Inc and there will be snake ambassadors on display so you can get an up-close look at them in a safe and controlled environment. \nThis program will focus on the following: \n\nWhat a snake is and why they are beneficial\nHow to accurately identify local snakes and their mimics\nBest practices on how to deter snakes from your property\nBUSTING those crazy snake myths!\nAll you need to know about Eastern Copperheads\nAnd more!\n\nWhen: Thursday October 2nd from 11AM to 12PM \nWhere: Cedar Pond Pavilion in The Greens located at 25966 Cullen Run Pl\, Aldie\, VA 20105 \nTickets are $5 each\, tickets required for all attending the presentation (including parents) as space is limited.  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Willowsford Conservancy Advisory Committee will hold its second meeting on Wednesday\, September 24 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The meeting will take place at Cedar Pond Pavilion in The Greens and the first 30 minutes will include a brief tour and overview of the pond\, dam\, and three-season pavilion. Due to the lack of wifi at the pavilion\, there will not be a Zoom for this meeting\, so please plan to join us in person. \nThe agenda will be available prior to the meeting in the Document Center which is available through the Residents section on the Conservancy website. \nCedar Pond Pavilion is located at 26035 Pond Pavilion Lane\, Aldie\, VA 20105 (at the end of Cullen Run Place in The Greens). After you park\, either entrance will take you down the hill\, then cross the dam and you will see the pavilion straight ahead of you. There is no restroom\, but there is a portable toilet at the bottom of the hill. \n

Nature journaling combines observation\, science\, art\, relaxation\, and fun. Learn the basics so you can continue this enriching practice in your own backyard or anywhere in the world. No experience necessary or expected. \n*Please dress for a portion of the workshop to be held outdoors by Cedar Pond. \nA world of infinite beauty and discovery waits just beyond the point where we usually stop paying attention. Nature offers us peace\, a rich and meaningful place to learn. There is no computer program that can replicate the richness of seeing a flower up close\, the intrigue of geeking out with bugs\, or the calm of laying on your back and watching clouds. The key to developing a closer connection with nature is deliberately enhancing your powers of observation and wonder. Learn how the methods of a field naturalist will help you notice more\, remember what you discovered\, and be actively curious. A nature journal is a lens that focuses our attention and crystalizes our observations\, thoughts\, and experiences.
