Fresh Lemonade

Makes about 1 quart.


3 cups water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, or to taste

  1. Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sugar is dissolved. Cool.
  2. Combine the sugar mixture with the lemon juice. Chill.
  3. Serve in a tall glass over ice.

For Lavender Lemonade: Add ½ teaspoon lavender blossoms to the water and sugar mixture in step #1. Steep (off the heat) for 5 minutes before straining. Garnish each glass with a lavender spring.
