CSA Options for 2014:
We also recognize that CSA is not for everyone, and for your support and adventure this year would like to thank those of you not planning to return in 2014. We hope to see you at the Farm Stand and would like to give you a $20 gift certificate to use at the Stand next season. Please feel comfortable letting us know if this is you!
This week at the Farm Stand: New Asbury Farm Lamb
Bill and Joan will be at the Farm Stand Saturday, here to restock you with Sage Sausage and Ground Lamb, Rib and Loin Chops, Shanks and Mutton Stew meat. And special roasts for the holidays – Legs and Half Legs, Rib Racks and Loin Roasts. Sage Sausage for holiday breakfasts all weekend, Roasts and Chops with dinner… you will be happy!
Mmm, something about good beans. We grew a really tasty variety this year, Midnight Black Turtle. It’s great for spicy soups, stews, and refrying. Bonnie made a great point that a good quality bean will be much creamier in texture and fuller in taste. She also notes they can expand more than store-bought beans, even 3-4 times as much. We have them in pint jars, about a pound to jar, with larger amounts available too, (just let us know). Try them – soak them first or use a pressure cooker. I’m planning to make them with quesadillas and burritos with my nephews (again).
Remember to keep an eye out for sign-up information for the 2014 CSA season. Coming soon!
