Week 26 – 11/12/2014

Folks, we’re nearing the end.  Cry not, there is one more week after this one (a bonus week, no less), then Thanksgiving (special harvest-to-order veggies, tell us if you want them!), and then… winter shares…

First, as I write the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month passes.  Thank you to those of you who have served or are now serving.  While we remember veterans of all conflicts, what is now Veterans’ Day was first known as Armistice Day and marked the end of the First World War.  More than nine million soldiers died and another seven million civilians died in the Great War.  Sixteen million people.  Today is a good day to share time with any veterans in your life.  As is tomorrow.

1) CSA Survey:  Tell us how the year has been for you, how we’re doing, and what changes you’d like to see for next year.  We want to grow vegetables for you again!  Your responses are valuable to us.  Link here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BJ6H3HT.

Your responses are valuable to us.  At the end of the survey you will be able join a raffle for $45 to use at the Farm Stand or toward your next share.  You will be asked for your name – surveys are anonymous and your name will not be linked to your answers.  Which better be good, or Tiny will be paying you a visit.

2) Winter Shares:  We will have weekly winter hours from December 3 – March 18.  Items will be available pre-ordered, either as shares (ordered for the full season) or pre-ordered for a single pickup (remember, its cold out!).  Think of it as a winter food club.  We’ll send an email each week listing what’s available; the same information will be at the online store.  In brief:

  • Winter CSA: December 3 – March 18, except for Tuesday 12/23 and Tuesday 12/30
  • Open Wednesdays, 4:00 – 7:00 pm
  • Shares: milk, bread, chicken (limited supplies!), beef, beef and pork, kombucha.

  • Pre-orders: veggie boxes, soups, side dishes, baked goods, and pantry items, all as available.  Order through the online store or via reply email.
  • Depending what nature brings us and how our winter cropping experiments go, we look forward to our own veggies over winter.  If you want veggies look for the veggie box!

3) Thanksgiving Orders: Turkey, sides, veggies for making your own sides, pies and more.  Pick up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, orders due next Tuesday, November 18th.

  • Order with good old fashioned paper using this form, via email (please, no social media orders) or online here.

4) Dates to note:

  • November 18, Tuesday: last day to order for Thanksgiving
  • Week of November 17th: last week of 2014 CSA
  • November 22, Saturday: frozen turkey pickup at farm stand
  • November 25, Tuesday: Thanksgiving pick up and farm stand.  3:30 pm – 7:30 pm (note extended hours)
  • December 3, Wednesday: Winter shares begin
  • December 3, Wednesday: 2015 CSA sign-ups begin
