Great news for those of you who have been seeking local honey to deal with seasonal allergies: Beekeeper Frank Ludlow just pulled 157 pounds of the sweet stuff from the farm property at the Grant. It is available at the Farm Stand until we sell out.

So why is honey said to be good for allergies? Well, think of it as an allergy shot that you don’t have to go to the doctor for. As you consume it, you are ingesting local pollen, building up a tolerance, and hopefully becoming less sensitive to those allergens.

The bees who made this honey aren’t only visiting vegetable plants at the farm, they are visiting all the wildflowers, weed flowers, trees and landscaping plants in our area. Farmers and beekeepers, of course, are not doctors so we can’t recommend any allergy treatments, but if you are believer in the healing power of honey, we’ve got you covered.
