DESCRIPTION:The Willowsford Conservancy Board has established a Community Advisory Committee and a Fundraising Advisory Committee. Both committees will engage residents in topics of importance to improving communications with the community\, looking for new funding sources and efficiencies\, as well as providing input on our program of work for the Board and staff to consider for potential improvements. \nThe kick-off meeting for both committees will take place on Monday\, September 8th\, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. SUMMARY:Meet the Willowsford Farm Chickens!
DESCRIPTION:Come and hear one of our farmers share how our flock of 500 pasture-raised chickens helps improve our soil health and our future production yields. You will learn about what we feed them and how we move them around our Farm. Then\, we will don painter booties to protect our shoes as we head into the coop to visit the hens. We will have the chance to touch a chicken and also\, adventurous visitors can try to pick up a chicken. We will then collect the eggs that have been laid that morning and head to our egg washing room to see how we clean our eggs. Every household will leave with a dozen eggs to try at home. \nThe event will be geared towards elementary and middle school aged students\, especially children who are curious about farm livestock and comfortable with loud bird noises and being near hens. We ask that all children be accompanied by an adult. Adults don’t have to enter the coop if they don’t want to! We will some beverages available for adults and also have staff available to chat about the Farm and our work. \nAttendees will meet up at the Farm packing shed by driving up the gravel road to the left of the Farm Stand. \nScroll down to buy your ticket. Tickets are required for all children attending\, accompanying parents or guardians do not require a ticket. \nThe program will begin promptly at 10am\, we encourage you to arrive 10 minutes early to have time to wash your hands and get situated before we head over to the chicken coop. When visiting the Farm\, you will see agriculture machinery and equipment. For your safety and the safety of our staff\, do not touch or approach any equipment unless directed by a staff member. This includes but is not limited to\, tractors\, ATVs\, washing and sanitation equipment\, pallets and pallet jacks\, harvest and maintenance tools\, and other items of a similar nature. We understand that visiting the Farm is very exciting for kids\, and their safety is our top priority. We will thoroughly cover all health and safety guidelines for the program at the start of the session. \nTickets are nonrefundable within five days of the scheduled event. However\, if you’re unable to attend\, we’re happy to transfer your ticket to a future session\, pending availability. If you are sick or feeling generally unwell\, for the health and safety of the group\, do not attend the session. Please err on the side of caution and reach out to have your ticket transferred instead. \n

Join us for an evening of memory-making alongside neighbors and Conservancy staff at the Hidden Meadow in The Greens. This year marks the 11th anniversary of this beloved Willowsford tradition\, and we’re keeping it classic with a delicious BBQ dinner and live music but adding a new twist with a Glow Party featuring light-up and glow-in-the-dark fun for all ages! We’ll have fun games and activities to enjoy as the sun goes down before our glow party lights up the night! \nDon’t wait—this event sells out quickly\, so grab your tickets today! \nWhen: Saturday\, September 13th at 6 PM with live music\, food\, and more fun until 9:30 PM. Our rain date is September 20th \nWhere: Hidden Meadow Event Field in The Greens\, 41145 Shasta Daisy Court\, Aldie\, VA 20105\nYour Registration Includes: Dinner from Willard’s BBQ including sides\, beverages\, and dessert.  Vegetarian dinner options will be available. \nBreakfast Sunday\, September 14th: Anyone camping over will be treated to coffee\, tea and breakfast snacks.\nArrival Time: You’re welcome to setup your camp site as early as 2 PM on September 13th\nDirections: From Grassland Grove Drive\, turn onto Tulip Poplar Place. DESCRIPTION:The Willowsford Conservancy Advisory Committee will hold its second meeting on Wednesday\, September 24 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The meeting will take place at Cedar Pond Pavilion in The Greens and the first 30 minutes will include a brief tour and overview of the pond\, dam\, and three-season pavilion. Due to the lack of wifi at the pavilion\, there will not be a Zoom for this meeting\, so please plan to join us in person. \nThe agenda will be available prior to the meeting in the Document Center which is available through the Residents section on the Conservancy website. \nCedar Pond Pavilion is located at 26035 Pond Pavilion Lane\, Aldie\, VA 20105 (at the end of Cullen Run Place in The Greens). After you park\, either entrance will take you down the hill\, then cross the dam and you will see the pavilion straight ahead of you. There is no restroom\, but there is a portable toilet at the bottom of the hill. \n
