SUMMARY:Yoga at the Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us for yoga at the farm stand\nConnect with the outdoors and meet other yogis at an all-levels flow yoga class at the farm. Willowsford resident Jennifer of JKS Yoga will take you through a series of poses to help you take in the sights and sounds of doing yoga at the farm stand. We will meet to the left of the farm stand in the big lawn. Please bring your own mat and water bottle. All levels welcome. Join Jennifer after for a tasty treat so that you can meet your fellow yogis. \nAge: 15+ \nEveryone who signs up will be asked to complete a waiver. We will have a list on hand of everyone who completed a waiver at the July or August classes (you will not need to sign again). \nWe ask that you park across the street from the Farm Stand at the Sycamore House parking lot and then walk over so that we can ensure there is enough parking for those visiting the Farm Stand for our weekly market. We would love you to visit with us after yoga for a refreshing iced tea or to take home some of our organic veggies. \n

SUMMARY:Fall Nature Journaling Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the beautiful Cedar Pond Pavilion to learn about how nature journaling can relieve stress\, stretch your mind\, and help you connect with nature and your neighbors! Nature journaling combines observation\, science\, art\, relaxation\, and fun. Learn the basics so you can continue this enriching practice in your own backyard or anywhere in the world. No experience necessary or expected. \n*Please dress for a portion of the workshop to be held outdoors by Cedar Pond. \nA world of infinite beauty and discovery waits just beyond the point where we usually stop paying attention. Nature offers us peace\, a rich and meaningful place to learn. There is no computer program that can replicate the richness of seeing a flower up close\, the intrigue of geeking out with bugs\, or the calm of laying on your back and watching clouds. The key to developing a closer connection with nature is deliberately enhancing your powers of observation and wonder. Learn how the methods of a field naturalist will help you notice more\, remember what you discovered\, and be actively curious. A nature journal is a lens that focuses our attention and crystalizes our observations\, thoughts\, and experiences. The system is creative\, rigorous\, and playful\, easy to begin and learn\, and will grow and mature over a lifetime.  –John Muir Laws \nThe event is free. Please bring your notebook (a small number will be available for attendees). \nCedar Pond Pavilion is located in The Greens (use address 25966 Cullen Run Place\, Aldie\, VA 20105 in your mapping tool).

SUMMARY:Volunteer Session: Native Seed Collecting
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we collect native grass seeds! Fall is here and that means many of our native grasses are going to seed. As part of this activity\, you’ll learn how to ID several different species of native grasses and how to properly collect and store their seeds. The seeds we collect as part of this event will be used for further grassland restoration throughout Willowsford. \nThings to know: \n\nThis volunteer activity is limited to 10 people to reduce heavy foot traffic throughout sensitive restoration areas. Be sure to RSVP below to save your spot!\nBe sure to dress appropriately for the outdoors. We strongly suggest wearing close-toed shoes and long pants as we will be walking through some pretty tall and dense grass. You may also want to familiarize yourself with tick safety. We will be collecting seed in an open meadow so prepare to be in direct sun and be sure to bring water to stay hydrated.\nIn case of rain this event will be rescheduled.\nChildren are welcome. This event is recommended for ages 8+.\nWe will meet in the parking area for Grant Family Campground then take a 5 minute walk to our seed collection site.\n\nPlease scroll down to RSVP. Feel free to contact info@willowsfordconservancy.org with any questions about this event.
