DESCRIPTION:The birds are singing and trees are flowering which means it’s time for the Spring Junior Farmer Program! \nThis season we’re offering two breakout groups: Grades K-4 and 5-8: \nGrades K-4: Participants will plant their own spring vegetable\, track its growth and development\, learn about insects\, and taste the harvest. Hands-on activities will engage and teach children about plant life cycles\, and each session will include a trip to Willowsford farm to meet the farmers and help with farm chores\, including a visit with the Willlowsford chicks. \nGrades 5-8: We have planned a special farm/nature camp just for you this spring! You will also be growing your own vegetables and helping the Willowsford farmers with farm chores and chicks\, but we have fun\, engaging nature activities planned to help you unplug and de-stress while growing your sense of curiosity and wonder about the natural world. \nLogistics: \n\nRegistration is required: limited to forty registrants\nRegistration cost: $150\nMeeting dates: April 5\, 19\, 26 & May 3\, 10 & 17\nMeeting time: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM.\nParents welcome and encouraged to attend with their child\nNo refunds for missed sessions\nPlease return a completed  Willowsford Farm Programming Medical Information and Emergency Release Form for each participant prior to the first session. DESCRIPTION:Be part of the Farm and your own food cycle! Bring home a pair of baby broiler chicks for a week and live a miniature agricultural experience in your own home. This is a great opportunity for families to share in the joys of Spring on the farm without worrying about the long-term needs of growing livestock. \nYour foster chicks will come with a box to house them for the week\, food\, bedding\, and complete instructions for their care. You’ll need to provide a place for the box inside your home that is free of drafts and safe from curious pets. Baby chicks cannot effectively regulate their own body temperature\, so your box will also need to be properly set-up with a desk lamp and 100 watt incandescent bulb for extra warmth. \nAdvance reservations through this form are required. \nPick Up Location: Willowsford Farm Stand\nPick Up Chicks: Saturday April 2 between 1 PM and 3 PM\nReturn Chicks: Saturday April 9 between 1 PM and 3 PM \n*Please note\, our staff is fully occupied during spring in preparing crops for your upcoming CSA season! We are not able to accept early returns of chicks\, because of this we ask that you only register if you’re able to commit for the full week. Thank you for your understanding.
