SUMMARY:Bluebird Monitor Guided Training
DESCRIPTION:Interested in becoming a bluebird monitor? Join our staff for a short presentation and then guided walk along our bluebird monitoring trail in The Greens. Learn how to inspect boxes\, collect\, and report data to contribute to citizen science. Bluebird monitoring is an easy\, flexible\, and rewarding volunteer opportunity that is great for individuals\, families\, or high school students seeking volunteer hours. Space is limited so RSVP below. \nCan’t make this event but still interested in becoming a monitor? Email us at info@WillowsfordConservancy.org! We’ll be happy to set up a time for individual training and answer any questions you have. \nWhy monitor bluebird boxes?\nMonitoring bluebird boxes allows conservationists\, bird enthusiasts\, and researchers to gather valuable data on nesting success and population health of bluebirds. Bluebirds are cavity nesters\, however they aren’t the only one and monitoring boxes allows us to gain insight on the predators and competitors that bluebirds are facing at their nests. Bluebirds are tolerant of human presence and proper monitoring does not disrupt the nest. Beyond helping with science\, it is a rewarding and fulfilling way to connect with nature!

SUMMARY:Native Plant & Conservation Volunteer Session
DESCRIPTION:Join Willowsford Conservancy for hands-on volunteer mornings supporting our native plant nursery and land stewardship work. This is a relaxed\, outdoor opportunity to learn about native plants\, get your hands in the soil\, and help grow and maintain habitat across Willowsford. \nThis time of year\, our native plants are ready to be transplanted from seed trays into larger pots. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Because many plants are small and delicate\, this opportunity is best suited for participants who can handle careful\, hands-on work. \nSpace is limited at our greenhouse and barn so please RSVP HERE if you plan to attend! \nWhat to Bring/Wear: Older clothes\, gardening gloves\, boots\, water bottle\, hat\nDate: every Friday\nTime: 9 AM – 11 AM \nDirections/Parking: This opportunity will take place at our Fleetwood Barn located at 23516 Fleetwood Road. Park next to the main building and our team will meet you to get you oriented for the projects for the session.
