All About

Radishes

One of the first crops of spring, radishes add vibrant color and varying degrees of spiciness to crudités, salads and sandwiches.

At the Stand

Look for radishes that are smooth, brightly colored and feel heavy for their size. The round red ones are a classic, but keep an eye out for multi-colored Easter egg radishes or nubby-looking French breakfast radishes at the Farm Stand.

How to Store

Radishes will keep for a week or more stored in the refrigerator. Trim the leaves, but keep a bit of the green stem and refrigerate unwashed in a plastic bag.

Easy Preparations

Radishes are crunchy, peppery and refreshing all at the same time. They are a natural choice for a crudité plate. The classic New England way to eat radishes is with a sprinkling of sea salt, dab of unsalted butter and crusty bread. Radishes can also be braised, pickled or roasted with delicious results.
